a place for kids to play,
grow and become
In East Akron, too many young people face barriers that limit their opportunities. The Vincent House walks alongside youth from kindergarten through graduation, creating a safe, consistent space where they can build confidence, relationships, and a future.
The hours that matter most are the ones with the least support.
In East Akron, systemic barriers have left families under-resourced and youth without consistent access to safe, structured environments.
On school days, the hours between 2 and 7 pm are when young people have the most free time—when growth opportunities are often replaced with exposure to violence, isolation, or instability.
Many students are already falling behind academically. Families are navigating real challenges. And without consistent support, those gaps only widen.
But when young people have just one trusted adult in their life, everything changes.
We don’t just run programs.
We build a village.
Research shows that children who experience adversity but have access to a trusted adult are significantly more likely to develop the skills they need to succeed.
The Vincent House exists to build a thriving neighborhood by walking alongside youth and families over time—not just for a season, but from kindergarten through graduation.
Through consistent relationships, mentorship, and access to opportunity, we’re creating a space where young people can discover who they are, families can find stability, and a stronger community can take root.
our core pillars:
-
We create access to high-quality extracurriculars that allow kids to explore their interests, build confidence, and develop teamwork and leadership skills.
Programs include Rec Night, sports leagues, dance, boxing, and soccer.
-
We walk alongside families by building trusted relationships and connecting them to tangible resources and wraparound services that create stability and resilience. From family dinners to housing connections, support is relational and ongoing.
-
Through long-term mentorship, we help youth develop social-emotional skills, confidence, and leadership—equipping them to make positive choices and shape their future.

This is what it looks like when a community invests in its young people
Because of the support of our community:
We expanded from 45 to 70 students
Grew from a K–5 program to a full K–8 continuum
Launched new programs like Middlebury Soccer Club and expanded Rec Night
Strengthened wraparound services for families
Created new pathways for mentorship and leadership development
“From my lens as school Principal, my hope for the work of the Vincent House is that it pours into students to fill voids and address barriers so that student output results in better school attendance and improved academic achievement. The idea of TVH began as a solution to a problem from the voices of Mason families - there are not enough after-school options for students to keep kids busy in a positive way, and to allow parents to work typical hours. It has turned into so much more. The circles, family events, soccer club, building partnerships for dance and boxing, it all matters in relation to my first sentence of filling voids and addressing barriers.”
— Renee Kochis, Mason CLC Principal
“The Vincent House has been a blessing to my family and me. It has provided many opportunities for my children that they would not have otherwise had access to. In these activities, my children have found interests that will last a lifetime and friends that have become more like family.”
— Starr Casey, Vincent House Parent
